Phenotypic platforms
Tue 23 January 2007
A phenome for a genome Sophisticated phenotypic platforms need to be developed to complement the emerging genomic technologies aiming at characterising gene function.
Systematic, thorough phenotyping of the large mutant populations generated for high-throughput functional genomics would expedite the discovery of essential genes.
GL-TTP calls for propositions of field and controlled phenotypic platforms.
Field conditions Plant breeders members of GL-TTP from all over the world will be solicited to provide phenotypic platforms.
We hope to be able to provide a range of platforms in different climate zones, soil conditions, and pathogen niches.
Controlled conditions Fundamental and applied research institutes that have developed phenotypic platforms in controlled conditions will be invited to contribute to the phenotyping effort of plant populations within GL-TTP.
